The StoryBreak team has years of combined experience working in Hollywood as professional writers, producers and studio executives. The team consists of a group of industry professionals who mentor StoryBreak clients in between their own writing jobs or in the case of our executives, during evening and weekend hours. The team has a wide variety of backgrounds including a former Executive VP of development at Disney Studios, a writer of a blockbuster Sony Studios romantic comedy and an executive producer of a hit network TV show. Since our team consists of working industry professionals, we do not list their names on StoryBreak’s website, but before a client starts a private mentorship or workshop, they will receive their mentor’s resume.
Our Founder
Susan Hoffman Hyman has worked in the entertainment industry for decades. Starting as an actress, Susan appeared in movies and TV shows including Outbreak, ER, The X-Files, and Melrose Place. Susan then followed her passion for writing, selling original scripts and rewriting movies for Warner Brothers, Paramount, Sony, and many other studios. Susan became known in the rewrite business for specializing in story structure, character, and authentic dialogue. Professional writers started hiring her to help strengthen their projects before studios even saw their finished scripts. Hence, StoryBreak was born.
For the past three years, Susan has focused on developing a creative place for professional writers to flesh out their ideas and benefit from collaborating with her experienced team. Now for the first time ever, StoryBreak is bringing its technique to writers of all levels, launching new voices in their careers.
